Welcome to the Astra website.  Astra has been owned and operated by master carpenter and builder Robert "Bert" Richelmann for 15 years.  We have over 17 years construction experience in the Long Island and New York City area.

Mission Statement

1. Astra strives for excellence in out work no matter how difficult and challenging.  In remodeling we are able to integrate the "old work" and "new work" seamlessly.  On time and on budget are keys to our success.  Therefore, because of this philosophy, a long term relationship with the customer is the desired result.
    
2. Of course, safety is the most important aspect of our work.  We strive to always keep the jobsite clean, safe, and secure.  We stay up to date on the latest code and safety standards.  Sub-contractors we use are licensed and insured.  Astra is a licensed and insured home improvement contractor.
    
3. As a member of the Sierra Club, the country's oldest and largest environmental group,  Mr. Richelmann is a staunch environmental advocate and believes in giving the customer advice on a range of environmentally safe alternatives to products used in the construction process.  We will even research and find non-toxic insulation (formaldehyde free and made from sheep's wool), forest friendly products such as steel studs and shelving made from wheat, and non-toxic latex based paints and adhesives, and cleaning products.  This philosophy protects the environment, the health of the customer, and can even save money.
